This is an informational hike with a local biologist who is an expert in edible mushrooms and plants. We won't be picking mushrooms on this journey, but it will be a great basis for learning what's edible in the East Bay and what to avoid!

About the event
Your guide will be local biologist Saumitra Kelkar and learn how to identify edible from deadly mushrooms, find local nuts like bay laurel and acorn, learn about the many edible and medicinal plants in the SF Bay area. This is an educational foray that will introduce the world of edibles to you so you can make wise, safe choices when you are out walking the East Bay. We won't be harvesting on this journey, but rather, it will be the start of your relationship with nature, or help you up level what you already know.
