About the event
Join us for a guided mushroom foraging walk focused on the edible mushrooms of the East Bay. You’ll learn how to confidently identify seasonal species in the field, understand the trees and habitats they associate with, and build identification skills you can use well beyond this walk.
The East Bay’s oak woodlands, mixed evergreen forests, and riparian corridors support a rich diversity of fungi, and we’ll spend time reading the landscape to find culinary treasure. Along the way, we’ll also point out other seasonal wild foods that share these habitats, helping you see how mushrooms fit into the wider ecosystem that sustains them.
Our walk may take place in areas where harvesting is restricted, but you’ll learn exactly where and how you can legally and ethically forage on your own. Expect an observation-based walk focused on sustainability, habitat protection, and learning how to engage with wild ecosystems in a way…
