Mushrooms and Lichens with Dye Potential - Hike and Workshop
We'll hike through the forest, identifying and learning about mushrooms - the culinary, the medicinal, and the ones used for natural dyes. Then we'll have a hands-on dying workshop and mushroom-themed snacks. Everyone will dye a silk scarf. Materials provided.

About the event
The woods are wet and wonderful right now thanks to all this winter rain, and fungi are popping up all over the place. Along with being fascinating, beautiful, strange, and fundamental to life on earth, you can make beautiful dyes for textiles out of many species of mushrooms and lichen.
Join Meredith Scheff-king and Maria Finn on hike through the woods on Mt. Tam learning about trees, lichen and mushrooms. Following this, we'll have a workshop where everyone will learn about mordants and natural dyes. Everyone will dye a silk scarf with natural dyes. We'll also have a lunch of wild mushroom flatbreads prepared by Maria Finn.
