About the event
We'll be meeting in Salt Point State Park, where there are an abundance of edible mushrooms growing. Due to the heavy rains, it's an excellent year for mushrooms. We'll be targeting golden chanterelles, yellowfoot chanterelles, hedgehogs, candy caps, and black trumpet mushrooms.
After two hours of foraging, we'll gather back at camp for a campfire cooked lunched. Participants are invited to help cook as much or little as they'd like, but it's a good opportunity to learn about preparing wild mushrooms. We'll then have lunch together and finish up in the afternoon around the campfire.
Since it is a few hour drive from the SF Bay area, you may consider getting an Airbnb or camping site. It's such a beautiful area you might want to stick around for a few days and look for mushrooms on your own.
